• Novel macrocyclic binaphthylic receptors 1– 6 are described as suitable compounds for saccharide recognition. Receptors belong to porphyrin- and calixresorcinol-based macrocycles. Receptors showed strong interaction to saccharide species in aqueous media. The specificity to oligosaccharides for majority of receptors has been showed. Apparent K a values in DMSO and 5% methanol/water mixture are in the range of 1–10 3 M −1.
