Beschreibungen/Notizen
The accuracy and the impact upon treatment strategy of transanal ultrasound (US) in patients with anal disease especially in case of recurrence is evaluated. All the transanal US are performed by the first investigator using a 7 MHz rotating endoprobe. 1746 transanal US (for diagnosis and follow up) are performed in 1241 patients (576 males and 665 females, mean age 58 and 53 years respectively) from Sept. 94 to Sept. 99 for ano-rectal diseases. An unsuspected intersphincteric absess is found for anal pain. For congenital abnormalities, 21 patients are studied after surgery with accuracy of 74%. The standard transanal ultrasound technique has a high grade of accuracy and impact upon the treatment strategy in patients with anal disease.
