Dulesh discusses the origin and evolution of Western civilization. Religion, philosophy and science all played a critical role in shaping Western moral values. Methodologically, medieval philosophy was scholastic and deductive. In the scholastic approach, the use of common reason was the prevalent tool to explain how things work. Scholasticism later evolved into empiricism: all knowledge is derived from sensory experience, observation. Also discussed is the concept of social progress during the medieval period in Europe.
