Bosnian Serbs take little heed of United Nations (UN) threats and military presence, since they are determined to win a war. They are fuelled by memories of history such as defeat by Turks in 1389, and killings by Croats during the Second World War. Serbia has long been involved in Balkan wars and there are records of Serbian troops in 1916 behaving in a similar way to troops in 1994. Bihac in Bosnia is likely to fall to Serbian forces to become part of a Greater Serbia, despite the efforts of the UN.
