Beschreibungen/Notizen
British intellectual historian Isaiah Berlin recounted in an interview his friendship with American writer Edmund Wilson and presented interesting recollections about Wilson's personality, friends and career. Berlin first met Wilson when the former came to the US in Feb 1940. Berlin was born in Russia and Wilson regarded him as a bridge between the intellectual life of Russia and the West. Wilson is described as having contrasting qualities. He was morally impressive, intent, intense and passionate and serious, but he was also highly neurotic and was uncomfortable with himself.
