In this study, the effects of four different foods (algae produced in Scenedesmus media, algae produced in Scenedesmus media + yeast, algae produced with inorganic fertilizer + yeast and yeast) on the population growth of Daphnia magna were determined. The experiment was initiated as the initial density of D. magna was 5 ind. 500 ml super(-1) using neonates less than 24 hours old. The experiment was designed for 12 (4 food x 3 replicates) erlenmayer of 1 L capacity containing 500 ml nutritional media, and the experiments were terminated after 28 days for all the experiment groups, by this time most replicates showed a declining trend in population density. At the end of the experiment, it was determined that maximum individual number was 3600,00 plus or minus 41,00 individual/500 ml on the 25th day and maximum growth rate was 0,36 plus or minus 0,002/day on 14th day in the group (I) fed with algae produced in Scenedesmus media. While additional yeast caused to decrease in individual number and growth rate, population increase of group fed with only yeast (IV) was at the lowest level and it showed significant differences from other groups statistically (P<0,05).
