Highlights • A maternal pertussis vaccination program was introduced in Australia in 2015. • Few cohort studies have examined the safety of pertussis and influenza vaccines given during pregnancy. • This cohort study prospectively measured adverse events following immunization in 4347 pregnant women. • One in 10 women reported a common adverse event following immunization. • Women who received pertussis vaccine during pregnancy more commonly reported a local reaction. • These results support the safety of maternal pertussis and influenza vaccination.
