- To accurately test for a protein C or protein S deficiency, the patient should be switched to LMWH two weeks before testing.4 It is known that patients with thrombophilia are at increased risk of recurrent deep venous thromboembolism and this risk increases in the presence of multiple thrombophillic mutations.4 It is likely that the same relationship holds true for MVT.
