Samples of groundwater were taken from 25 private and 36 rural municipal wells in Saskatchewan and analyzed for arsenic. No arsenic was detected at a detection limit of 1 mu g/l in ten of the private wells and 15 of the municipal wells. Four private wells and one municipal well exceeded the Health Canada limit of 25 mu g/l. Results showed that high arsenic levels are generally not a problem in Saskatchewan groundwater. However, more data are needed to find locations where groundwater does contain high levels of arsenic.
