• The paper presents a mock ritual directed to a widower at his second marriage, and played by the youth abbey of the village of stivan / S. Giovanni di Duino (manor and captaincy of Duino, the Duchy of Carniola) in 1651, with an emphasis on the resolution of the conflict that arose. The central question addressed is the identification of the intermediaries between the conflicting parties and the identification of their role in the resolution of the conflict. In our case the »rough music« ritual (charivari, mattinata, sdrondenata, calderada), spread throughout most of Europe, escalated in a heated confl ict with violent attitudes and actions, which also represents a common aspect in the performance of these rituals. In Stivan in 1651 the main intermediary role was played by the women in the community. //ABSTRACT IN SLOVENE: Prispevek obravnava ritualno zasmehovanje vdovca ob njegovi drugi poroki, ki so ga leta 1651 priredili mladi fantje oziroma fantovscina iz vasi stivan pri Devinu (v gospostvu in glavarstvu Devin, vojvodina Kranjska), s poudarkom na razresevanju nastalega spora. Osrednje vprasanje, na katerega poskusamo najti odgovor, je, kdo so bili posredniki med sprtima stranema in kaksno vlogo so odigrali pri razresevanju konflikta. V obravnavanem primeru je ritual tako imenovane »macje godbe« (charivari, mattinata, sdrondenata), ki je sicer izprican in razsirjen v skoraj vsej Evropi, prerasel v hujsi konflikt in se razrasel v nasilno vedenje in dejanja, kar tudi ni bilo neobicajno pri tovrstnih obrednih zasmehovanjih in kaznovanjih. Izkaze se, da so v stivanu leta 1651 glavno posrednisko vlogo odigrale zenske.
