• Peter Lawler is a provocateur of the profoundest sort. His work pokes and prods readers on every side of every question. Yet one doesn't feel wounded when reading his work, but one does feel nudged just a bit off balance because his prodding often comes from unexpected directions. He is by nature a helpful complicator. Having said that, I think his critique is spot on, especially his tracing part of America's current problems genealogically through to Locke. Adapted from the source document.
