• The painting "The concert, or a maestro di cappella giving a music lesson" (ca. 1535) by Titian has been at the National Gallery in London, England, since 1824. Its popularity declined until the 20th century. Early documentation of the painting is examined to detail its provenance. References to it, including in exhibition catalogues, are considered, and its condition is discussed.
