• In a school contaminated heavily with PCBs due to the use of elastic sealant material with high portions of technical mixtures of PCBs, and in an uncontaminated school, blood samples were collected from teachers, and PCB concentrations were measured. Indoor air samples were also collected and analyzed. In the teachers from the contaminated school, mean PCB levels in blood samples were much higher, especially those of the low-chlorinated PCB congeners 28, 52, and 101, but the differences were much lower for the congeners 153, 138, and 180. Similar results were found for the air samples. Only slightly higher levels of coplanar PCBs and PCDD/Fs were found in the contaminated school compard to the uncontaminated one.
