• Presents an introductory essay on the ancient-early medieval archaeology of the town of Contigliano (Lazio region), with ten rubrics for religious architecture (chiefly churches, most of which first built in the Middle Ages). Observes that an early reference (794) to the settlement, states that at that date there were a group of houses clustered around the church of San Pastore, which was incorporated into a Cistercian abbey (still extant today, though in private hands) by 1255. Includes transcriptions of documents.
