During a study of the incidence of stored-product moths in rural locations and rural and urban storage facilities in Southeast Texas, it was noted that male black cutworm moths, A. ipsilon (Hugnagel) consistently were captured in traps baited with the synthetic sex pheromone of the Angoumois grain moth, S. cerealella (Olivier), (Z, E)-7,11-hexadecadien-1-ol acetate, but were not captured in traps baited with a sex pheromone attractive to the Almond moth, Ephestia cautella (Walker) and the Indian meal moth, Plodia interpunctella (Hubner), (Z,E)-9,12-tetradecadien-l-ol acetate. Male black cutworm moth were captured between October and April but not in other months. Captures peaked in December and January.
