• On the occasion of an exhibition at the Mucsarnok in Budapest (28 May-11 Aug. 2002), discusses the works on display. The author relates the background to the exhibition, curated by the Hungarian artist András Gál, argues that its main virtue lies in its placing of Hungarian Radical Painting in an international context, and notes the galleries which contributed works to it. She explains the exemplary nature of Sanford Wurmfeld's Cyclorama, traces the history of monochrome abstract painting through the work of Yves Klein, Erno Kállai, and Zsigmond Károlyi, and reports on the presence of works by Joseph Marioni, Helmut Federle, Alan Charlton, Marcia Hafif, Frederic Matys Thursz, and Günter Umberg. She describes the aims of monochrome painting, highlights the exhibition's Hungarian-English catalogue, and concludes by quoting János Sturcz's history and assessment of Hungarian monochrome painting from it.
