• The treasure was secured for the nation this year after a phenomenal campaign to raise the £3.3m target Birmingham Museums & Art Gallery & Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, Stoke-on-Trent, UK The Staffordshire Hoard, late 6th-8th century Gold, silver, copper alloy, sone, glass, garnet, various dimensions Acquired with the assistance of the National Heritage Memorial Fund, the Art Fund and public donations In July 2009 a metal detectorist discovered 1,500 pieces of Anglo-Saxon gold in afield near Lichfield, UK, and two months later the find was declared treasure.
