- In 1654 Zachary Coke introduced the 'Procataretick' and 'Proegumene' cause to the terminological storehouse of English vernacular logic textbooks for the first time in his manual, The Art of Logick. He defined these respectively as that 'which outwardly moveth to do' and that 'which within moveth to do', or in other words, externally and internally impelling causes. Here, Wilson offers notes and queries regarding the first usage of the logic terms' English elaboration specifically for Coke's sources.
