• IT is not without difficulty, that crayons of a good quality can be obtained for drawing schools, particularly at a distance from the metropolis. The native ochre sewed into pieces, which are commonly used, is almost always hard and of an uneven and gravelly consistence; so that the outlines in drawing, for which it is used, cannot be made either with the softness or the precision requisite to produce the desired effect.
