  • In this study, 2 species (Scorpaena notata, Scorpaena porcus) belong to Scorpaena genus were caught monthly by trawl surveys carried out between January 2005-July 2007 in Izmir Bay, in order to determine of morfometric and meristic characteristics and length-weigth relationships parameters. During the research period, 658 Scorpaena notata and 221 Scorpaena porcus individuals were investigated. The lenght-weight relationship of fishes were estimated as W=0.0164*L^sup 3.074^ (r^sup 2^=0.960) and W=0.0209*L^sup 2.987^ (r=0.993) for Scorpaena notata and Scorpaena porcus, respectively. As a result of student t-test (p<0.05), it was determined that the growth characteristics of S. notata and S. porcus are positive allometry and isometry respectively in the bay. In addition, 19 morphometric measurements taken and 7 meristic characteristic were counted for 23 S. notata and 29 S.porcus individuals. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
