Beschreibungen/Notizen
Housley et al reveal that what now appears as Otto Mountain on US Geological Survey (USGS) maps is actually a hill about 1.5 miles across at its base and about 1.5 miles northwest of Baker CA. It is considered a part of the Soda Mountains. Otto Mountain consists largely of the granitic rocks granodiorite and quartz diorite, but it has prominent roof pendants of carbonates on the northeast side and of a gneiss complex on the top. Here, they describe the remarkable occurrence of rare secondary tellurium minerals of Otto Mountain near Baker CA including seven new species. The tellurates are thorneite, ottoite, housleyite, markcooperite, timroseite, and paratimroseite. The tellurite is telluroperite.
