Although he spoke rarely about them, J. M. Bocheński considered values important. However, as he was little if at all familiar with metaethics as developed by analytic philosophers, he was convinced that the best discussion of values is to be found in the writings of Max Scheler. The paper tries to show that to defend Scheler's ideas on the subject is difficult today. Indeed the author suggests that to talk about values is to be easily seduced into a discussion of pseudo-problems.
