Beschreibungen/Notizen
[...] Eichner's posthumous multivolumework currently being prepared for publication byHartwig Mayer and Hermann Patsch will supplement his previous work with a thoroughly researched documentation of Schlegel in the mirror of his time.1 The 1970 monograph as a whole, just like the sum of all the commentaries and introductions to the volumes of the Schlegel edition Eichner has written, as well as the series of interpretative essays, trace the way in which Schlegel's thought continues to challenge, question, and revise if not implode habitual distinctions of discipline, methods, and notions of the role of literature, philosophy, and religion. Passed on among Germanistik, philosophy, and comparative literature, Schlegel's work reminds us of the urgency to examine our own disciplinary boundaries if we aspire to more than institutional contentment.
