A survey of 91 recent graduates from a master's program in psychology indicated that nearly all had either become employed in the field or were continuing their graduate training. Those working rated themselves on the average as moderately satisfied with their positions. The duties involved differed for the graduates of different program tracks. Clinicians were engaged in psychological testing and psychotherapeutic interventions, whereas graduates of an industrial/experimental (I/E) track were most likely doing research, report writing, and consultation. Salaries were higher for the I/E graduates than for the clinicians, but both groups received substantially less than doctoral program graduates in their respective specialties. In line with earlier surveys, it is concluded that the master's degree represents a viable step on the career ladder. (9 ref)
