Beschreibungen/Notizen
  • This doctoral thesis is divided into two parts. The first one offers a detailed panorama of the evolution of the Trojan Matter in European Literature (with a special emphasis on Spanish literature) together with the edition and rigorous study of the Crónica Troyana by Juan Fernández de Heredia. This chronicle is a partial translation of the Historia destructionis Troiae by Guido della Columna into Aragonese and is conserved in a unique manuscript from the end of the 14th century. The interest of this work lies in its connection to the old Trojan tradition, where Guido plays an important role, and in its belonging to the prolific literary production of Juan Fernández de Heredia, who was one of the most important political and cultural figures in Europe in the second half of the 14th century. The last part of this thesis presents the edition of the Crónica Troyana by Juan de Burgos, published in Burgos in 1490, together with an in-depth study of this text. This chronicle, the most influential one in the Trojan Matter during the 16th century, is linked to different literary genres, like the chivalresque novel or the oratory. All these elements are profusely developed in this thesis. Both chronicles are also accompanied by an extended bibliography and glossary and onomastic indexes for each of them.
