• A linkage map of chromosome 1 has been created with different genetic molecular markers. The markers were expression polymorphisms (RH system and acid phosphatase), RFLPs analyzed with single locus probes (CRI-L1-1039, -L56, -R629, -C52 and -LA336), microsatellites analyzed with PCR (angiotensinogen, HUMREN A4 and D1S117) and finally a minisatellite analyzed also by PCR. An analysis of the linkage was done with the statistic program Linkage 5.1 in 16 families with myopia, in all of them the above markers have been studied. For the linkage calculation only the informative families were used. No evidence of linkage between myopia and any markers of chromosome 1 has been found. Neither has there been found a linkage between myopia and the acid erythrocyte phosphatase (chromosome 2). The existence of a strong association between myopia and the C allele of the acid phosphatase has been confirmed.
