Abeysekara talks about the relation between genealogy and tradition in Arvind Mandair's Sikh Philosophy: Exploring Gurmat Concepts in a Decolonizing World. Sikh Philosophy seeks to chart a certain kind of "genealogy" even though its implications are not explicitly teased out but merely supposed. Indeed, Mandair does describe the first chapter as a "genealogy of the major interpretive traditions of Sikh thought from the sixteenth century to the modern period", but the term "genealogy" never recurs.
