Beschreibungen/Notizen
  • The ventilatory thresholds (VT1 and VT2) and the "02 debt" are two energetic parameters which haven't been studied (as happens in the first case) or have been studied in a restricted group (as happens in the second case) in children. On the other hand, both have been recently the object of great controversy in respect to their conceptual and methodological aspects. For this reason, the present work which has one theoretical and one empirical part has the following objectives: (1) to collect the present knowledge on the energetic metabolism in children and the effect that training causes on it; (2) to study by different methods the VT1 and VT2 and the "02 debt" in untrained children between ages of 7 and 13; (3) to correlate different methods used to evaluate the VT1 and VT2 and "02 debt", respectively; (4) to study the correlation of the VT1 and VT2 with the "02 debt" and of these parameters with the VO2 max. The conclusions obtained are as follows: (1) we found no correlation between the criteria used for the determination of the VT1 but we did find it for the VT2; (2) while the VT1 has values of 26.7 m102/Kg.min and 16.9 m102/Kg.min by the first and the second method, respectively, the VT2 has values of 35 m102/Kg.min in both methods applied. We found no clear tendencies in the evolution of these parameters with respect to the variables of age and sex; (3) we found a correlation between the methods used to calculate the "02 debt". Its values were notably influenced by the age and sex of the subjects; (4) we found correlations between the studied parameters (VT1 and VT2, "02 debt" and VO2 max.) which shows the lack of metabolic specialization at these ages.
