  • The programs for each of three recitals were chosen to present the viola as a solo instrument in three different textural settings: viola and keyboard, viola and orchestra, and solo viola. The first recital consisted of three sonatas for viola and keyboard instrument: Sonata in C Minor for Viola and Harpsichord by W. F. Bach, Sonata for Viola and Piano by Felix Mendelssohn, and Sonata for Viola and Piano (1979) by George Rochberg. The second recital was designed to present the viola as a solo instrument in a concerto setting. The Bela Bartok Concerto for Viola and Orchestra was performed with the Ricks College Symphony Orchestra. Included in this performance were revisions in the score based on the study of a reproduction of Bartok's original sketches. Prior to the performance, a lecture was presented outlining the history of the concerto's commission, the condition of the composition at the time of the composer's death in 1945, the subsequent work of Tibor Serly in preparing the concerto for publication, and the revisions that would be presented in the performance so as to follow as closely as possible Bartok's original sketches. The third recital presented a program of unaccompanied works. The program consisted of a transcription of Suite No. 2 in D Minor by J. S. Bach, Tre Pezzi per viola sola by Alessandro Rolla, Capriccio pour Alto seul, op. posth. by Henri Vieuxtemps, a transcription of Caprice No. 9 by Niccolo Paganini, and the Sonate fur Bratsche allein, op. 25, no. 1 by Paul Hindemith.
