• Probably the most exciting, cross-organ topic in clinical gynecology at the moment is the topic of the sentinel concept. The aim is to reduce perioperative morbidity by reducing lymphadenectomy to a necessary level. It is postulated that the histopathological findings of the sentinel lymph node correctly predict the status of the remaining regional lymph nodes and therefore further lymphadenectomy is unnecessary. At the same time, attempts are being made to increase the prognostic significance of lymphadenectomy, as more extensive examinations can be carried out on the smaller number of lymph nodes.
