  • A go-kart is a small and lightweight 4-wheeled vehicle commonly used in motorsports and recreational activities. The primary function of a go-kart chassis is to support the weight of the vehicle and maintain structural integrity along with exhibiting sufficient flexibility during maneuvers. Weight, safety, cost, and fabrication were the fundamental criteria considered while developing the chassis design. AISI 4130 tubes with a circular cross-section are chosen for fabrication and the chassis is modelled in Solidworks CAD software. A straight chassis with rear mount engine configuration with a roll cage is the design proposed and the parameters of the modeled frame are stated. FEA analysis with hexagonal adaptive meshing is carried out for simulating a front and side impact. The loading conditions for impact are calculated and appropriate loads and constraints are set. The results were then evaluated, and the design was analyzed on Factor of safety, Stresses and Deformation. The analysis points to an optimized design that can be considered safe for front and side impact.
