• Because there are many places where you can read about Aldo Magi's accomplishments in Wolfe studies, including in his final book (Thomas Wolfe: Say It with Music) and in the keepsake produced for the Wolfe conference in Asheville (Aldo P Magi's Books on Thomas Wolfe), I thought I'd tell you a little about Aldo's personality-at least the parts of it that I came to know during our nearly 35-year friendship. [...]we all became book importers for the Aldo R Magi Collection. [...]not that I would ever directly associate Aldo Magi with a big fat bug with translucent wings and bulging red eyes, that crawls out of the ground after 17 years to fly around for a few weeks looking for sex, but the actual name of this insect's genus-and I am not making this up, although I do tend to deliberately mispronounce it-is Magicicada.
