This article analyzes the feasibility of detecting the setting time of concrete paste using three electromagnetic parameters based on a novel patch antenna's return loss, bandwidth, and resonant frequency while embedded in cement paste. They also used two data fusion methods to reduce errors in predicting the setting time using the dielectric constant of cement paste. As the hydration of concrete increases, the moisture content of cement paste decreases, causing the dielectric constant of cement paste also to decrease. The radiation efficiency (represented by the return loss), bandwidth, and resonant frequency of the patch antenna shift due to variations in the dielectric constant of the covering material. The electromagnetic parameters were used to obtain the setting time. Theoretical analysis and a setting time experiment verified the relationship between the selected parameters and the dielectric constant of the cement paste. Errors were reduced from 10.7% to 4.25%.
