• Head strike injury prevalence was defined as the number of cases recorded in the study period. Discussion: This is the first prospective study to evaluate head strike injuries in community women’s and girls’ Australian Football, highlighting that approximately one-third of head strike injuries result in a diagnosed concussion. Sport-related concussion guidelines for Australian Football (April 2021) state the earliest a player can return to play is 12 days post-concussion, and if a concussion cannot be ruled out at the time of the event, a player must not return to play.
