  • Short fiber-reinforced composites are widely used in petrochemical industry, especially in sealing devices. Due to harsh service environment, the requirements of sealing performance are becoming stricter. In this manuscript, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) modified aramid fiber-reinforced rubber sealing composite (CNRC) is prepared. The tensile strength of CNRC with different content of CNTs is tested to determine the optimal formula. The fatigue test is carried out to obtain the residual strength of CNRC, and the damage modes of CNRC are determined by scanning electron microscope. The compressive creep test is conducted to determine the creep properties of CNRC at different temperature and load. The kelvin model is employed to characterize creep properties of CNRC, and the prediction results are in accordance with experimental results. The results indicate that the flange connection system equipping with CNRC should be reloaded after 100 min.
