Beschreibungen/Notizen
  • This dissertation study aimed to raise awareness of the poor pediatric health outcomes of Hispanic children throughout the cities of California, resulting in death. The study further reviews Hispanic historical events and experiences suffered within the United States. A sample of 556 pediatric decedents of archival data was obtained from the Pediatric Death Review Committee (PDRC) files ranging from 2010 to 2020 of Fresno County to conduct the study. Using Erikson and Bronfenbrenner, hypotheses were formulated on a developmental and systemic approach. The study used a quasi-experimental design to analyze categorical data, with age, gender, race/ethnicity, and zip codes as independent variables. The analysis examined the frequency and trend data on independent variables using chi-square goodness of fit, binomial test, or sign test. Data showed that the overall pediatric deaths consisted of Hispanics, specifically male Hispanics. Further findings illustrated that children under 1 and older than 14 are impacted by poor health outcomes, resulting in death. The clinical implications of this present study, the limitations, and future research were addressed.
