Comments on the article by G. F. Principe and K. London (see record 2023-02505-001), which extends the examination of maternal reminiscing style to address forensically relevant questions. Do our memories become less accurate with repeated reminiscing? In bringing together the literature on maternal reminiscing style and suggestibility, Principe and London provide a foundation for approaching this question in a more complete and nuanced way. An elaborative maternal reminiscing style has documented positive benefits for multiple aspects of child outcome, yet simultaneously may be a risk factor under some conditions for some purposes. In a deeper sense, Principe and London remind us that there are no simple answers; good developmental research allows for complex answers to real-world problems.
