  • The total capacity of solar heat supply systems in Russia in 2020 reached 70 MW (87 500 m 2 ). Thirty solar thermal plants (STPs) with a total area of 1400 m 2 (100%) were built in 2019–2020, including 21 plants with flat solar collectors (SCs) with an area of 1300 m 2 (92.9%) and 9 STPs with vacuum tubular SCs (100 m 2 , 7.1%). Based on their purpose, 25 of these STPs with an area of 1150 m 2 worked for hot water supply, one plant with an area of 200 m 2 for heating, one with an area of 12 m 2 for heating and hot water supply, and two with an area of 24 m 2 for heating swimming pools. The largest of these hot water supply STPs with 150 flat SCs (300 m 2 ) produced by OOO Novy Polyus (Moscow) was built in 2020 in Sevastopol by the manufacturer of these SCs. The causes of the low rates of construction of the STPs in Russia are indicated, including unskilled operation. The preliminary analysis of the 10-year operation of the most powerful STP with an area of 4268 m 2 in Russia in the town of Narimanov, Astrakhan oblast, established a high operational reliability of Logosol CKN 2.0 SCs manufactured by Buderus (Germany). At a 10-year service life of the STP with an area of 600 m 2 in Ust-Labinsk, Krasnodar krai, its inoperability was established as a result of damage to 40 CFK-1 SCs of the Wolf company (Germany). The 35-year operation of three STPs in Sochi, Krasnodar krai, with a total area of 508 m 2 in a maritime climate has confirmed the high quality of the SOKOL SCs of AO VPK NPO Mashinostroeniya (Reutov, Moscow oblast). Damage to threaded connections of 30 SCs was noted. With a 10-year design service life of solar collectors of the STP in the village of Blagoveshchenskaya, Anapa, Krasnodar krai, the SCs with an area of 40 m 2 manufactured by the Kovrov Mechanical Plant retained their operability after 20 years of commissioning. The data on the damage to the SCs and the state of the structural elements of the STPs are given.
