  • Deposition characteristics are crucial for plasma spraying. Plasma-sprayed Al 2 O 3 -40%TiO 2 depositions on different substrates, 7075 aluminium alloy, 304 stainless steel, T2 red copper, and Q235 carbon steel, were investigated by numerical and experimental methods. The maximum temperature and equivalent stress of the particles after the collision appeared at the 304 stainless steel, reaching 550 K and 240 MPa, respectively, while the minimum values appeared at the 7075 aluminium alloy, approximately 450 K and 180 MPa at 1500 ns, respectively. The 304 stainless steel, 7075 aluminium alloy, Q235 carbon steel, and T2 red copper exhibited equivalent stresses in decreasing order, which may be attributed to the decreasing order of the static yield strengths of the four substrates. The O element diffused considerably in the 304 stainless steel and Q235 carbon steel substrates. Mg considerably diffused in the coating during the plasma spraying. This study may provide a basis for engineering applications in related fields.
