A new probe [3-AcetCuCl] (where 3-Acet = 3-acetylcoumarine-4(N)-ethylthiosemicarbazone) has been designed and synthesized and it acts a selective and sensitive fluorescent “on–off” chemosensor for l-asparagine and l-threonine. The cytotoxicity of the probe and sensed compounds were studied against human lung cancer cell line (A549) and human colon cell line (HT-29) in which l-asparagine bounded probe showed better activity in both the cell lines than l-threonine bounded probe.
