Andy Haldane, the Chief Economist at the Bank of England since 2014, has been appointed as the RSA's new Chief Executive. He will take over the role in Sep 2021. Andy joined the Bank of England in 1989 and is a member of the Monetary Policy Committee. His previous roles at the Bank include Executive Director of Financial Stability, and he was also Chair of the government's Industrial Strategy Council. In 2009, Andy co-founded Pro Bono Economics, an independent charity chaired by former Cabinet Secretary Lord Gus O'Donnell, with a mission to use economics to empower the social sector and to increase wellbeing for all in the UK. In 2014, Time magazine named him as one of the world's 100 most influential people.
