• The reaction of solutions of Sb 2 O 3 and 4,4'-dimethyl-1,1'-butanediylbis(pyridinium) dibromide ((4-MePyC 4 )Br 2 ) in concentrated HBr affords polymorphs: binuclear (4-MePyC 2 )[Sb 2 Br 8 ] ( I ) or tetranuclear (4-MePyC 4 ) 2 [Sb 4 Br 16 ] ( II ) complexes, depending on the reaction conditions. The structures of the complexes are studied by X-ray structure analysis (CIF files CCDC nos. 2061368 ( I ) and 2061369 ( II )).
