  • The work is focused on developing effective systems for the electrogasdynamic control of the boundary layer and gas flows on aerodynamic surfaces. In the course of the research, a new multi-discharge actuator system has been developed that induces a unidirectional and fairly uniform volumetric force effect over the extended aerodynamic surface sections and has significantly better power and energy characteristics than those of well-known world analogues. The experimental validation of weakening the cross-flow in a three-dimensional boundary layer and increasing its stability using a new multi-discharge actuator system has been performed. •Multi-discharge actuator system is developed.•The system generates unidirectional body force over lengthy aerodynamic surfaces.•Body force impact permits to reduce a cross flow in swept wing boundary layer.•Cross flow reduction results in attenuation of stationary instability vortices.•The laminar-to-turbulent transition is delayed.
