We study the procedure of oxidizing roasting of vanadium sludges of the hydrometallurgical production of vanadium pentoxide aimed at improving the recovery of vanadium. It is shown that additions of CaCO

(1% of sludge mass) and MgO (2% of sludge mass) prove to be especially efficient at roasting temperatures of 1000 and 900°C, respectively. The optimal conditions are established for the procedure of leaching of vanadium from the roasted sludges. As a result of two-stage leaching, the concentration of V

solutions becomes as high as ≈20 g/liter and, hence, they can be used to obtain vanadium concentrates meeting the requirements of standard documentation by the method of hydrolysis.
