• McCormack et al discuss the effect of a microbial Muramidase (MUR) on peptidoglycan content in the gut of swine using in-vitro and in-vivo measures. Bacterial debris in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) are continuously being produced by the microbiota present upon bacterial division and death. The results suggest that MUR may reduce peptidoglycans (PGN) adhesion to intestinal cells and may hydrolyze PGN found in the GIT.
