  • Results are provided for development of technology for welding pipes made of steel 09G2S with an internally deposited protective coating of self-fluxing nickel-based alloy PR-NKh17SR4 prepared by gasthermal deposition followed by flashing-off, and surfacing of steel 12Kh13. Low-alloy electrodes are used for welding. The expected composition and structure of the welded joint root section is calculated from results. In order to prepare the preferred structure for the welded joint root area the thickness of the internal coating of self-fluxing nickel alloy PR-NKh17SR4 should not be more than 2 mm, and the thickness of steel 12Kh13 coating should not be more than 1.5–2.0 mm. The self-fluxing nickel coating of limited thickness and with increased porosity is not effective in order to provide corrosion resistance for the area of the pipeline around the weld. There are almost no pores within a steel 12Kh15 deposited coating. It is revealed that use of surfacing with high-chromium coatings in order to create a welded joint with increased corrosion resistance is preferable compared with use of a coating of self-fluxing alloy based on nickel.
