This article focuses on a recurring phenomenon in scientific publications: the tendency of publishers to favour results whose hypotheses are confirmed to the detriment of articles with so-called negative results. The article consists of 5 parts. We first present a short history of the phenomenon followed by the state of situation. We then discuss the cause of the few publications with negative results before identifying four consequences. Finally, we present 3 solutions to mitigate this situation.
