• In August 2018, a specimen of Megalops atlanticus was captured by an artisanal vessel in the vicinity of Guadalquivir estuary (Gulf of Cádiz, south of Spain). Identification was confirmed by morphological and meristic data, as well as molecular analysis. Supplementary data such as stomach content and trophic level are also provided. This is a new record of this species in Atlantic European waters, where only 15 specimens have been recorded in the last 45 years.
