Many studies have investigated service function chain (SFC) mapping in cloud networks. However there is a growing need to extend this provisioning to fog networks to support services with tight end-to-end delay or local contextual needs. Hence this paper presents a first look at SFC provisioning in a multi-layer fog architecture that considers client resource and delay requirements. Several provisioning heuristics are presented to implement differing objectives, i.e., delay, cost or load minimization. The performance of these solutions is then evaluated using several metrics in order to gauge their effectiveness for supporting time-sensitive and resource intensive client demands.
