Goethe's poetry is examined in relation to his romantic encounters and his subsequent mode of expression, manifesting itself as a way of writing off: exhausting and solitary, mimetic and supplementary, destructive and impulsive. Goethe's poetry helped him to overcome certain problematic interferences between time and topic.
